Five checks to make after receiving a Korean DART disclosure alert

A disclosure is an official company filing, but its headline is rarely enough to understand the impact. A contract, rights offering, or earnings change may look very different after reviewing conditions, units, and correction history.

1. Open the source filing and attachments

Alerts and summaries help you locate the important section quickly. The authoritative source is the filing and its attachments submitted to Korea's DART system. Check whether table units are won or thousands of won and whether figures are consolidated or separate.

2. Check whether it is a correction

A repeated headline may be a correction rather than a new event. Compare the before-and-after table for changes in amount, counterparty, schedule, or issuance terms.

3. Measure materiality against company size

A large absolute number is not enough. Compare contract value with recent revenue, new shares with existing shares outstanding, and earnings changes with both the previous period and market expectations.

4. Separate the announcement date from effective dates

The filing date may not be the completion date. Record the contract period, payment date, listing date, or shareholder-meeting date that determines when the event can affect the company.

5. Cross-check related filings and research

One filing may be a later step in an earlier decision. Group related documents by company, report type, and key terms. Compare how brokerage research interprets the same event, while treating AI summaries as navigation aids and verifying every conclusion against the source.

Smart Gongsi's DART search, personalized alerts, and AI analysis bring company filings and brokerage research into one workflow.
